If you want to make a real event of your holiday, Silverholme Manor is a five-star Georgian manor house set in a magical location, with sweeping views of Lake Windermere and its own private shoreline.
Sleeping up to 18 guests, Silverholme is an elegant and opulent manor house that puts you in one of the best locations in the Lake District on the banks of Lake Windermere.
Lake Windermere is one of the most popular lakes in the area, and a stay at SIlverholme gives you private access to a stretch of the lake, as well as stunning views of both the water and the surrounding woodland.
The manor house has been furnished to an extremely high standard, with handmade cupboards and marble worktops in the kitchen, an antique table in the dining room and a separate library with a huge range of games, books and magazines.
With its large, Georgian-style windows, the manor is flooded with light – you’ll find it hard to tear yourself away from the vast views through the floor-length glass doors in the open-plan kitchen. There are period features and furnishings throughout, tastefully placed alongside modern comforts such as a snug television room, perfect for the little ones to relax while you socialise in the kitchen or drawing room.
All the bedrooms have en-suite facilities too. Another plus point for lovers of the landscape, Silverholme is the only eco-friendly manor house in the country.
Visit the picturesque village of Hawkshead just four miles from Graythwaite, with its historical buildings and quaint courtyards. Several museums are dedicated to Wordsworth and Beatrix Potter, and you’ll find many delightful artisanal food shops.
At Hill Top you can delve into 150 years of Beatrix Potter in her Lake District home, just three miles from Graythwaite. Or enjoy a day out on the steam train to Lakeside and then switch to a boat for a scenic cruise up Lake Windermere to see the picturesque village and craft shops at Ambleside.
A stay at Silverholme Manor is truly a special experience!
Graythwaite is a family-run country estate that stretches for 5,000 acres across the Lake District. A stay at Silverholme puts you at the heart of this historic landscape. Stroll down to Lake Windermere, or explore the trails and paths in the woodland. If you’d like something more adventurous, Graythwaite Adventure offer excursions and activities like paddle boarding, climbing or clay pigeon shooting.
Beatrix Potter loved Graythwaite and you can visit her own house while you’re here. Hill Top is a seventeenth century farmhouse where you can see lots of the author’s collection of antiques, paintings and bric-a-brac. Some of the objects may even have inspired her stories.
There are plenty of peaks and ridges to clamber up to in the Lake District. To take just one example, Helvellyn can be tough going to begin with but the views are worth it. If you’d like a gentler stroll, Fell Foot is a restored Victorian park along the shoreline of Lake Windermere, with flower meadows and picnic areas.
